Went on a short trip to Wyoming to shoot prairie dogs. Didn’t get to the ranch and start shooting until around 1:00 PM, stopped around 6:00 PM. I shot 179 rounds, killed 146 prairie dogs using my 20 Practical. Not bad, went to the Motel to get some sleep and started out the next day,  DAMN !!!!

Someone had ice picked my two back tires, nice little hole in each sidewall. Not repairable. No 20 inch tires in the whole town, I have an ’06 Dodge with Goodyear tires. Several people told me they were a big pain in the ass because they are hard to find, cost a lot of money, don’t have a lot of choices in tread, and the alloy rims crack in cold weather.

Bought a couple cans of Fix-a-flat and managed to get the tires to stay inflated to get back to Denver.

Now it’s buy two new 20 inch tires, and worry about the rims, or do what two different tire places in Wyoming said “get 17 inch tires and rims”, at a cost of around $1,500. Neither is a good choice. I don’t really have the money to spend on tires. My shooting for the rest of the summer isn’t going to be good. Might have to sell a gun or two.

  • Total for this trip: 146
  • Only rifle used: 20 Practicel
  • Total varmints for the year 4,939
